yet可以用作用作连词，也可以用作副词，但用作不同词性，意思有所不同（具体用法你可以查词典）。
yet 表示转折（=然而，但是）时，它是连词，此时可以单独使用，也可以与and连用（通常将 and yet视为习语），你的句子中的 and 也可以省略的：
He has a good job, (and) yet he never seems to have any money. 他有一份不错工作，但他好像从来都没什么钱。
又如：
He worked hard, (and) yet he failed. 他工作努力，可是他失败了。
He said he would be late, (and) yet he arrived on time. 他说他会迟到，但他却准时到了。
其实不仅可以说 and yet，而且还可以说 but yet，均可看作习语，均与单独用的 yet 同义，即其中的 and, yet 都可以省略。如：

但是，词典上都把 and yet 的用法放在 conjunction 词性下面的，说明 and yet 中的 yet 仍是连词。如下面一句摘自朗文词典，就是放在 conjunction 词性下面：

and 是并列连词，yet 是副词，不可能连续使用两个连词。这一点毋庸置疑。

yet 的这种用法跟so 是一样的情况。例如：
The children behaved badly, so the teacher kept them after school. （so 是并列连词）
